Black Tuesday 20-10-20 – The Day The Nigerian Government Massacred Its Citizens. A Day That We Shall Not Forget In Our Annals Of History.

My heart is heavy. As a citizen of one of the most populous nations in Africa and the world, I weep. I am numb. I am shocked. I am speechless. Words fail me to express the anger I feel!

My government murdered it’s citizens with impunity. And for what reason?! Ask me and I will tell you why the government of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria sent its troops to open fire on peaceful protesters that were not armed! Wait for it….

They wanted an end to police brutality and the senseless killings of the youths of this country.
They wanted a better government.
They were tired of living and dying in abject poverty.

All we want is a better life. We wanted an end to the police unit that had become known for its senseless killings and brutality. The hashtag and protest #END_SARS# has been on for the past two weeks in the country. The protesters were peaceful. They had no weapons. They were not looting. They were simply exercising their fundamental constitutional right to protest and demand for changes that are the very basic in any nation that calls itself a democracy.

And what does the government do? It decided on Tuesday the 20th October 2020 to send soldiers to gun down innocent unarmed citizens with live bullets. Gosh! May posterity and the blood of the innocent Nigerians shed yesterday never forgive this government for its atrocious acts yesterday. And guess what? The killings are still going on even today! I ask, what did my people do wrong!? Nigerian government where did we go wrong! Gosh my heart breaks and weeps.

Oh and other things that happened before the shooting started – the cameras to the toll gate were shut down and the lights taken out so that there was utter darkness for the atrocity to be carried out. Does that not sound like an intentional act of killing? Ambulances were stopped from attending to the scene to treat the wounded. Like what kind of wickedness is this! One of my favorite investigative satirist journalist Adeola gives a good run-down in her video here. All of these leaves one in no doubt that this was an intentional massacre and assassinations of innocent Nigerians who did nothing wrong! We shall not forget!

Let me shock you with more disturbing facts that has happened after this atrocity:

Until this moment of writing, which is 3p.m. Nigerian time, on the 21st October 2020, the President and Commander In Chief of our great nation has yet to say anything, at least none that I have seen;
The Governor of the State where this senseless killing happened, with a good conscience opened his mouth to say that no lives had been lost to his knowledge;
The military has denied their involvement. Apparently they have no idea who the men who opened fire on the protesters were. This is despite several videos online both on Twitter and Instagram showing men in military uniform who showed up and just aimed for unarmed citizens. Here is a short video clip on YouTube.

What shocks me more than anything is the fact that these citizens had the national flag and yet they were gunned down with a national symbol of peace and unity. What kind of government sheds innocent blood on its national flag I ask. That cover picture you see is not even a computer-generated flag. The blood on that flag is very real. The blood on that flag is the blood of innocent Nigerians killed and gunned down for asking their government to give them a better life.

This day will go down in the annals of our history. It feels like a very bad dream to me. I saw a very graphic video of a young man with his brains on the streets! #sniffs# This is too much for me to handle. I can’t! But I shall never forget this day. We shall never forget it. We will forever remember it. And even in 2023 we shall remind the government of this day.

My heartfelt prayers and condolences to all families that lost their children and loved ones to yesterday’s massacre. Posterity will remember their struggle. We will remember their struggle. And we shall continue what they started and demand justice for them.

And there is an even more shocking revelation that led to the edit today the 28th day of October 2020. According to an eyewitness account, after the military, the real preparators of the Lekki massacre was the “disbanded” SARS unit. Yup, you heard right. The unit they were protesting against, came in and finished the job. This requires you to listen to it yourself, so here’s the link to the video. This is very unnerving and unsettling should it turn out to be true then we are not safe in our country.
